Logan Regional Medical Center Earns ‘A’ Grade for Hospital Safety from Leapfrog Group

Logan Regional Medical Center Recognized with 2026 Spring Leapfrog A Hospital Safety Grade

The grade, awarded for spring 2026, is Leapfrog’s highest national recognition for patient safety.

Logan, West Virginia (May 6, 2026) – Logan Regional Medical Center (LRMC or Logan Regional) earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit watchdog focused on patient safety. The hospital was one of only two in the state of West Virginia to earn the top grade for Leapfrog’s spring 2026 ratings cycle.

“Earning this prestigious safety grade is the result of our team’s dedication to doing what’s right for our patients, every single day,” said Justin Turner, CEO of Logan Regional Medical Center. “We are committed to a culture where safety, quality, and transparency guide everything we do. Our patients deserve to feel secure in their care, and this recognition shows that we are delivering on our promise of safe, quality care.”

The Leapfrog Group assigns an “A”, “B”, “C”, “D”, or “F” grade to all general hospitals across the country based on over 30 measures of errors, accidents, injuries, and infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent them.

“An ‘A’ Grade is a strong sign that Logan Regional Medical Center is deeply committed to protecting patients from harm,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “We commend the leadership, Board, clinicians, staff, and volunteers for the role each played in earning this distinction.”

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade stands as the only hospital ratings program focused solely on preventable medical errors, infections, and injuries that kill more than 500 patients a day in the United States. This program is peer-reviewed, fully transparent, and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.

The Leapfrog honor is the most recent among a list of positive recognitions for Logan Regional. In February 2026, Castle Connolly Top Hospitals rated Logan Regional Medical Center as a 2026 Top Hospital nationally for procedures, specifically for Lung Cancer Surgery in the category of Cancer Surgery. In November, the hospital received the 2025 Performance Leadership Award for excellence in patient outcomes from The Chartis Center for Rural Health. In October, LRMC was named to Newsweek’s listing of America’s Best-in-State Hospitals 2026. And in July, Logan Regional was one of 100 hospitals included in Becker’s Hospital Review’s 2025 listing of “Great Community Hospitals.”
