The Right Place to Recover: Why Billy Chose Logan Regional

When Billy Miller was diagnosed with a brain tumor requiring surgical removal, he knew the road to recovery would not be easy. After undergoing surgery at another facility, postoperative complications required a second procedure just two days later. Once his condition stabilized, Billy faced another important decision – where to continue his recovery through inpatient rehabilitation.

For Billy, the choice came down to what mattered most – exceptional care, staying close to home, and being surrounded by his supporting family and community. Those priorities led him to choose Logan Regional Medical Center’s Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit

On April 27, 2026, Billy began his rehabilitation journey at Logan Regional. At the start of treatment, he required assistance with many everyday activities, including walking, climbing stairs, getting in and out of bed, and putting on shoes and socks due to balance deficits, weakness, and decreased endurance.

Very early in his stay, Billy realized he had made the right decision.

“The people and professionalism stood out immediately,” Billy shared. “This is home to me, and I knew that being home would make such a difference.”

Billy credits the Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation team for helping him regain both his strength and independence. Surrounded by compassionate caregivers and familiar faces from his own community, he found encouragement every step of the way.

By the time he completed treatment, Billy had regained full independence with movement, mobility, and activities of daily living. His sister, Amber Miller, remained one of his strongest advocates throughout the process – especially during a period when Billy briefly required additional care at another hospital. She strongly supported his return to Logan Regional to complete his rehabilitation close to home.

Reflecting on his experience, Billy said: “I can’t imagine being treated better or having a better group of people to push me toward my goals. I have been so pleased with my care, and I am encouraged every day to keep moving forward. These people lovingly pushed me to reach my goals each day, and it allowed me to get back to my life.”

Today, Billy says he would highly recommend Logan Regional Medical Center’s Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit to anyone in need of rehabilitative care, adding that the combination of skilled therapy, compassionate staff, and the comfort of being close to home made all the difference in his recovery.
