When you have an orthopedic injury, condition, or surgery, rehabilitation is a vital component to your recovery – helping decrease your pain, improve your strength and flexibility, and enhance your coordination and endurance. 

 
 

Who is a Good Candidate?

We provide rehab services for those who experience aches, pains, surgery recovery, debilitating illness, trauma, stroke, joint replacement, fractures, back/neck problems, speech difficulty, developmental disabilities, balance issues, amputations, wounds, and more.

Comprehensive inpatient rehabilitation services are provided to individuals with orthopedic, neurologic, and other medical conditions of recent onset or regression who have experienced a loss of function in activities of daily living, mobility, cognition, or communication. Type of patients admitted to the Rehabilitation Unit include, however are not limited to, those with a diagnosis of stroke, spinal cord injury or dysfunction, brain injury, amputation, multiple trauma, hip fracture or joint replacement, arthritis, congenital deformity, burns or other progressive neurologic syndromes such as Gullian Barre, Parkinson's Disease and Multiple Sclerosis. The patient population includes adults 18 years and over. Care is provided on an 8-bed unit located on the third floor of the hospital.

Our Services

Services provided include rehabilitation medicine, rehabilitation nursing, physical and occupational therapy, speech/language pathology, social work, psychology, and recreational activities. In addition, prosthetics/orthotics are provided when necessary through affiliate agreements with external organizations. Rehabilitation medical care is provided by a physician who is qualified by training and experience.

All services are provided by qualified individuals, inclusive of Registered Nurses, LPNs, Registered Physical Therapists, LPTAs, Registered Occupational Therapists, COTAs, Licensed Speech & Language Pathologists, Masters prepared Social Workers, BSWs or equivalent, Licensed Psychologists and Psychological Associates/Assistants, Certified Prosthetists/Orthotists, and other qualified individuals under the guidelines of State Licensure laws and professional standards of practice.

Rehabilitative Therapy Specialties

Occupational Therapy (OT): treatment plans address conditions such as hand, elbow, and shoulder dysfunction and/or disabilities, including stroke, acute trauma, fractures, inflammation or dislocations and other chronic repetitive injuries; coordination problems and weakness; and how these conditions may impact activities of daily living.

Physical Therapy (PT): treatment plans address orthopedic conditions such as joint replacement, fractures, osteoarthritis, low back pain, TMJ, and chronic repetitive injuries. PT can also address neurological disorders and developmental delays.

Speech Therapy: treatment plans address communication, thinking (cognitive), or swallowing abilities, often caused by stroke, MS, Parkinson’s Disease, or other neurological disorders.

 
 

Rehabilitation After COVID-19

Whether you recovered in the hospital or in your own home, COVID-19 or coronavirus can create long-lasting side effects – even after your body fights off the virus. After both severe and minor COVID-19 infections, many patients will experience a variety of heart and lung complications that may require rehabilitation services to overcome.

To ensure the ability to resume your daily work and hobbies safely and effectively, we are uniquely prepared to guide post-COVID-19 patients through the next phase of their recovery.
