Speech Therapy

Language is our most human characteristic. Communication disorders can affect anyone. Our speech-language pathologists are healthcare professionals educated and trained to evaluate and treat individuals of all ages with a variety of communication, cognitive, or swallowing problems.

Our speech therapists use computer technology, voice or language exercises and other training tools to help people develop effective communication and cognitive skills.

  • Receptive language – Understanding spoken or written language.
  • Expressive language – Ability to communicate wants, needs, and thoughts through words, sentences, gestures, and writing.
  • Articulation – Production of sounds to make words.
  • Cognition – Ability to think, concentrate, remember, reason, and put ideas together.
  • Feeding | Swallowing – The process of food entering the mouth, chewing, and swallowing.
  • Stuttering – Disruption in the fluency of speech.
  • Social language – Understanding and appropriate use of language in social situations.
  • Voice and resonance – Quality, loudness, and pitch of voice.
  • Augmentative-alternative communication – Verbal communication is supplemented or replaced by other methods.

Our team can also assist with an autism spectrum disorder, cerebral palsy, children with a history of delayed developmental milestones, cleft lip, cleft palate, dementia, Parkinson's Disease, stroke, aphasia, and traumatic brain injury.
