Logan Regional Medical Center Named to Becker's 2025 Listing of Great Community Hospitals

Logan Regional Medical Center (LRMC or Logan Regional) is one of 100 hospitals included in the 2025 Becker’s Hospital Review (Becker’s) listing of “Great Community Hospitals” released on Friday, July 11. Logan Regional was the only hospital from the state of West Virginia to make the list.

Hospitals recognized in the listing, per Becker’s, are “dedicated to clinical excellence, academic advancement, and personalized, whole-person care delivery. Their mission is to elevate health outcomes within the communities they serve.”

“This is a wonderful recognition for the team and the incredible work they’ve done to make Logan Regional a center for high-quality care in southern West Virginia,” said Jason Studley, Interim CEO of Logan Regional. “It’s exciting when a nationwide healthcare resource like Becker’s takes notice of the innovation and hard work behind our hospital’s success at bringing essential services to a rural area. We get tremendous job satisfaction each time a healthier patient walks out of our hospital, but this accolade is certainly a nice validation for our team and the strong partnership we have with our community.”

Becker’s editorial team selected the 100 hospitals for inclusion based on their nominations and the insights from respected rankings and ratings organizations, including U.S. News & World Report, Healthgrades, CMS, The Leapfrog Group, the National Rural Health Association, and The Chartis Center for Rural Health.

In its announcement of the hospitals included in the list, Becker’s espoused the value of community hospitals, noting that “Community hospitals play a vital role in the fabric of the U.S. healthcare system, delivering accessible, affordable care to patients beyond major metropolitan areas. Whether serving rural regions or suburban neighborhoods, these hospitals are essential to keeping communities healthy and connected to quality care.”

Logan Regional continues to bring providers to the hospital to improve access to its services and is also working to develop the providers of tomorrow through its Rural General Surgery residency program – a first-of-its-kind initiative designed to grow the pool of practitioners at community hospitals. In addition, LRMC is collaborating with Mountain Health Network and Marshall Health to bring more opportunities for specialty care to southern West Virginia.

The Becker’s listing continues a string of recognitions for the hospital. These include a recent “A” grade for patient safety from The Leapfrog Group (the only hospital in the state to earn the top mark), inclusion in Newsweek’s “America’s Best-in-State” hospitals listing, and earning the Gold Honor for Excellence in Patient Care from the West Virginia Hospital Association.
